Culture as a Drive for Regional and Local Economic Development

Four cases of success will be presented: the Bilbao effect (Spain), Manufaktura Lodz (Poland), Bozar (Belgium, tbc) and the City of Culture of Galicia (Spain). The first part of the seminar will focus on two main issues that are currently occupying the European Agenda for Culture: green paper on cultural and creative industries, and the European study on the contribution of culture to regional and local economic development. The second part of this seminar will be devoted to presenting a significant panel of European cultural projects, which have fitted in the same criteria advocated by the current European cultural policy, and which are or will be relevant cultural industries with an outstanding architectural footprint.
